Mission Statement and Objectives of Railway Protection
Force
1.Mission statement: -
We shall Protect and Safeguard Railway Passengers, Passenger Areas and
Railway Property.
We Shall Ensure the Safety, Security and boost the confidence of the
Traveling Public on the Indian Railways
2.Objectives: -
We shall carry on an unrelenting fight against
criminals in protecting Railway Passengers, Passenger Areas and Railway
Property.
Facilitate Passenger Security by removing all
anti-social elements from Trains, Railway Premises and Passenger Areas
Co-operate with other departments of the Railways in improving
the Efficiency and Image of the Indian Railways
Act as a bridge between Government Railway Police/Local Police
and the Railway Administration
Adopt proactively all Modern Technology, Best Human Rights
Practices, Management Techniques and Special Measures for protection of
female and elderly passengers and children, in the pursuit of these
objectives.
Powers and Duties of
Security Commissioner
Rule 39 of RPF
Rules’1987
He holds
responsibility for: -
1. Devising ways and means for better protection and security of
railway property.
2. Efficient administration of the Force.
3. Dealing with all establishment
matters concerning the enrolled members of the Force placed under his
control.
4. Carrying out such directions as may
be given to him on the subject by the Chief Security Commissioner or any
superior officer on his behalf
5. Keeping close touch with superior
officers and post-in-charges and aid, advise and direct their activities.
6. Conducting regular and frequent inspections and take follow up
action
7. Ensuring effective and result-oriented deployment of the Force.
8. Study of all basic security
arrangements against thefts of Rly. Property and suggesting such
improvements to the authorities concerned.
9. Ensuring correct account of crime, thorough and prompt enquiries.
10. Liaison with his counterparts in the
police including Railway Police, Civil Administration and other Railway
Departments.
11. Ensuring full compliance by all concerned under his command.
Rule 40 of RPF Rules’1987
Duties of
Assistant Security Commissioner
His duty is to assist the
SC/RPF in performance of his duties.
Other powers and responsibilities shall be such as may be specified in the
directives issued by the DG/RPF and CSC/RPF from time to time.

Powers and Duties
of Inspector /Fire Wing
He holds responsibility: -
1. To attend all the fire calls on the workshop/township and nearby
public area.
2. Ensure preparedness for dealing with
fire hazards and maintenance of equipments of fire fighting.
3. To impart first aid fire fighting training to concerned Railway
Staff as and when requisitioned.
Rule 41 of RPF Rules’1987
Powers and Duties
of Inspector of Executive Branch
He holds
responsibility: -
1. To supervise the
work of the Force under his charge.
2. For
Registration, prevention and detection of crime.
3. For
co-ordination in the work of post.
4. Ensure
Discipline, Honesty and Efficiency.
5. Co-ordination
with GRP/Civil Police and other departments.
6. To collect intelligence of crime and
criminals within his jurisdiction and to maintain the records for guiding
the investigating officer in the detection or prevention of offence.
7. To protect and
safeguard Rly. Property. |
