modern and cost effective techniques & technologies
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES OF
MEDICAL DEPARTMENT
I.
Provide quality health care (complete Physical , Mental &
Social well being)
II.
Constant up gradation of curative services in tune with the
latest technologies and within resources available.
III.
Provide regular C.M.E.(Continuous Medical Education) inputs
to medical and paramedical staff.
IV.
Combine efficiency with courtesy and empathy.
V.
Establish effective base for disease prevention and health
promotion services including industrial health.
VI.
Meet the administrative needs of Indian Railways.
VII.
Work for the acceptance of a small family norms by the staff.
VIII.
Ensure adequate physical standard of the employees at
recruitment and during there periodical check up.
IX.
Provide and maintain accident relief medical equipment,
including first aid boxes, to give prompt relief to passengers injured in
railway accidents.
X.
Attend the passengers injured or taken seriously ill in train
or at railway station, on payment under certain circumstances.
XI.
Provide medical facilities at par with serving employees to
those retired railway employees who have opted to become members of RELHS
scheme.
XII.
Administer medical treatment to outsiders , on payment ,
under certain circumstances .

Malaria, Tuberculosis, Diarrhoea , Cancer ,Blindness, AIDS etc.

Food Hygiene and implementation of PFA

Monitoring of quality of water supply

Industrial health monitoring
VII.
Environmental Sanitation

School health services

Health Education

Health services in fairs and festivals

Powers

Overall administrative in charge of Medical & Public Health
Dept.
Responsible for implementation of Health management system
and preparation of objectives and targets .
Plans ,directs, controls & monitors progress of Medical
performance including achievement of objectives and targets
Conducts periodical review meeting
Instructs and takes decisions during emergencies
Identify training needs of personnel
Identifies and provides resources in area of health & medical
field.
Ensures implementation of corrective and preventive actions
for issues related to medical & Health dept.
He will attain POM meetings.
Ensure efficient management on Medical & Health matters of
employees of CLW
